Product Review (submitted on January 14, 2023):

This is an original and attractive design, beautifully executed in high quality materials. The exhibition caseback with gold rotor and perlaged surfaces, surrounded by two polished and engraved rings, is simply stunning. The same can be said for the face, with its concentric two-level architecture, polished applied indexes and Steinhart logo. The cutout on the skeletonized minute hand and the curved balance on the second had follow the curve of the inner face, highlighting the lettering applied to that area - a really nice design touch. The double-AR coated sapphire crystal makes the time easy to ready to read, but the highly reflective sapphire bezel plays nicely with light, making in the most “blingy” Steinhart watch in my small collection. This is a very dressy watch.
The vertical grooves in the bezel edge have been split by a horizontal groove, rendering it into a blunt saw edge that aggressively grips a sweater or textured polishing cloth. Combining two references I have affectionately nicknamed it “Black Jack the Ripper”. This bezel takes the description “tool watch” to a whole new level, to the point that in a pinch you could use it to cut through fishing lines if you became entangled while diving. On a more positive note, the white (and loomed) highlights on the first 15 minutes of the rotating bezel make it easy to find the starting point when you are using the bezel to time an event. That is not so true of the triangular bezel pip on my Ocean One Classic GMT, which visually resembles both the triangular indices on the GMT hand and the twelve o’clock index on the face.
Overall this is a beautiful, original and practical diving watch that does double duty as a tool and dress watch. The downward curve on the lugs, and the 13 mm case thickness enable it to hug the wrist, and with the matched factory bracelet it fits nicely under a shirt, notwithstanding the 43 mm bezel diameter. It wears no larger than that 42 mm Ocean Classic GMT on my 7 ¼ inch wrist, but might be a bit much watch for those with smaller wrists.
